I thought (stupidly) that my bike was secure enough in our (open) building lobby that I didn't lock it with a U-lock, just this cable. I found an earlier version of this cable that was partially severed by enterprising bike thieves who broke into my neighborhood. I think it was thick enough that her front teeth couldn't get through. The next day I replaced it with the exact same cable and started double locking with my old kryptonite New York U-lock. No second attempt was made. It might not work with a professional bike thief, but the cops think it could be someone who lives in my area and breaks down buildings on my block. This is a good cable for pairing with a U-lock - my U-lock is narrow and sometimes I can only attach the frame to one object, I thread it through both hoops, my helmet and sometimes the box that I attach to your back to yours carry dog.
