NOT suitable for V6 models! Terrible customer service

I bought this bracket for my 1995 Camaro 3.4L V6 with M49 5 speed transmission. The Prothane website and online catalog indicate that this part number fits my combination. The same part number they claim fits the 3.4-liter and 3.8-liter V6 models, as well as the LT1. After further research on some online forums I found that it is a known issue for these mounts not to fit the V6 models and Prothane has not even removed this 21 year old erroneous information from their website. I even called them on 800 during the install and spoke to "Bill". I gave him all the information about my car and the part number. He didn't look at anything. He immediately suggested that my motor mounts might be loose and everything could be shifting. If you look, Prothane doesn't even offer an email address for their company. Their customer service is lacking and apparently their pre-search is effortless too. I heard good things about Prothane bindings when they first came out, but I can't believe that a company founded in 1991 couldn't solve a problem that started in 1993 and lasted for years. Because of this, I no longer believe their products match the intended models. I will buy polyurethane products from another company. If you want to use this mount, some people have used a couple of washers as shims, or you can get a cross member from 1993-1997 Camaro/Formula/Trans-Am automatics with LT1s. This one is a different shape and seems to offer the right fit.

Pros
  • understandable even for old ones
Cons
  • some little things
