Great little oiler if you are working within its limits. Although not very visible in the photos, it is the pointed shaft in the center of the needle that serves to seal flow through the needle in the closed position and as the actual applicator tip when the button is pressed. This is a gravity fed device so you have to use fairly thin oil and it doesn't work upside down or even across. It is only a drop and not injectable. So if you want to displace oil or apply to areas that need lubrication, you need a different applicator that increases the flow pressure. I bought this to oil my old steel sewing machine and it works great for this application. It is also very good for lubricating the internals of a firearm or any other mechanism where you need to put a drop of oil on it and let it seep into the work naturally. Edit: when left horizontal mine leaks as others have commented around the button. I have not noticed any leakage through the needle at this point. Thin oils are designed to penetrate or permeate seals, so I guess that's to be expected, but it's not optimal.
