This is the metal version I bought, not the plastic version. I use it as a longer suction cup extender to attach a small video camera to the outside of the car to film on the go. The extra length allows the camcorder's side LCD screen to be fully opened when installed on the right side of the vehicle. The LCD screen opens on the left side of the camcorder, so the extra length gives you extra room to fully open the LCD screen.
