Review on 🖨️ Epson WorkForce DS-510: High-Performance Color Document Scanner by Chad Siofele

***UPDATE*** 12/08/16 My prototype repair outlasted the second connection component. So I unnecessarily reworked my design. Presenting the Mk.II, a drinking straw reinforced with HVAC metal tape. If someone has a 3D printer, I think we could get rich making spare parts for those devices. The path between the options stops the click. If you're more of the "let me try to fix that" type than the "let me buy a new one" type, I've found that the problem was caused in a weird way: Epson designed the cam between the holding roller of the Front panel constructed and the splitter lever. I have attached a photo of the mechanism with the faceplate removed, you can see the threaded white plastic cam. It looks like the U-shaped teeth buckle outward and the middle section of the linkage just slides off the opposite cam when rotated in one direction. My solution was to take them out and apply pressure with what was on hand. (Threads and some sealant to keep the threads from tangling in the car) and after assembling the unit I'm 90% positive that the way the unit was assembled at the factory is the source of the problem. A joint alone would be fine, but you have to insert two pieces at a time from opposite ends, and it just so happens that the corner puts a lot of stress on the part that breaks to cause the click and side. feed problems. My guess is that it is weakened by assembly, since no part of the operation exerts forces in the same direction that would cause it to fail that way. Also, after my repair, my block is now working properly again. I don't know how to use this as proof that Epson released a faulty product but it absolutely is the case here so anyone who can get this through the proper channels should get in touch with me.
