These steel wool pads are great for what I wanted them for. I first needed them to clean the (aged) aluminum diamond plate on my cargo trailer. They held up well with WD40 and it only took me three pads to coat one trailer. My lawn tractor needed a muffler so after removing it from the exhaust system (with a screwdriver) I installed 7 gaskets into the steel muffler body. It's really amazing how much quieter a running 26hp engine is. Over time it will burn through the steel wool again, so I keep a supply on hand for a quick, inexpensive muffler repair.
