I really needed new oven mitts. The ones I had were well used for years and fell apart. The first time I used a pair of these oven mitts to remove a hot baking pan from the oven, I was about 2 inches from the top of the oven and the piping on one of the oven mitts melted and caught fire. I thought it was an accident I did wrong. Upon closer inspection, I noticed that the binding was made out of some kind of cheap plastic that melts very easily. It is not 100% cotton as advertised. The next time I used them was to take the dish out of the microwave. I placed one on the countertop to place a hot dish on and the shiny material got very hot and kind of stuck to the countertop. It didn't melt, but came closer, and now everything is formless. The third time I took the pan out of the oven. I had the same problem with the mount on one, melting and catching fire. They'll go in the trash as soon as I can replace them. I'm sorry. I really wanted to like her. I do not recommend these gloves to anyone.
