Antenna clamp not tight

The clamp does not fit snugly on my antenna which I believe is a simple standard telescopic antenna. This is on a compact AM/FM/SW Radio Shack. I placed it as close as possible to the base of the antenna where it's thickest, but that's not possible. He just slid around. Use some aluminum foil to increase contact. It seems to me that the meaning of the clamp is to clamp tight. Living in Manhattan hasn't improved my reception, but maybe it's because of all the noise from the tall buildings. I do not have a clue of it. This Radio Shack gets good reviews for SW but I wouldn't blame the antenna other than to say it did nothing for my reception. The automatic scan still found nothing, even several attempts on certain channels found nothing. The AM/FM radio works great with many stations on both (no additional antenna required). I liked that it had a clip on the other end that I could use to attach it to the blinds, which I then raised by pulling the antenna out the window. This proved helpful. FYI, that's no reason for a downgrade, but you do have to twist the middle section with your finger to retract the antenna back into the case. For some, using a finger can be difficult. Something that slides out like a handle would make it easier, but I don't know if anyone else does something like this. I didn't have any problems with this part, but it's worth letting potential buyers know.
