Review on πŸ”₯ K&N Cold Air Intake Kit for 2010-2011 FORD Focus: High Performance Guaranteed, Increase Horsepower - 69-3516TTK by Andre Parsons

Noticeable improvement

This is the first K&N kit I have installed but I doubt it will be the last. My 2010 Focus comes with a stupid, energy-wasting California PZEV exhaust that costs about 8 horsepower. I'm a fairly experienced mechanic and the installation was easy. However, the installation took almost an hour as I needed some small metric wrenches which I had but buried under other tools and thanks to the fact that I threw the bolt into the Great Chasm from which it was not restored. Since it had a fancy metric thread, luckily K&N included an extra one. As another reviewer noted, not everything in the kit is "correct". The crankcase ventilation hose/valve cover L-adapter on the intake pipe is oversized for the supplied hose which is the correct size. I fixed this by using a hacksaw to cut off the flared portion of the L adapter as I was going to secure it with a Wittek clamp anyway. The kit was a hose clamp shorter, but I had a spare in my tool box so it didn't really matter. The instructions could be clearer but the photos help fill in the gaps. For an untrained mechanic, this can be a little tricky. I haven't counted the mileage since installing the kit, but expect a modest improvement on the 30.4 I got in every way. What I can say is that I gained some horsepower (although not as much as the bullshit steals the emissions) and, perhaps more importantly, some "flat spots" when accelerating around 3500 rpm almost became eliminated. Sounds cool too!
