I mount them on the top hinge of each door and it makes it a lot easier to align the doors (because one hinge pin is actually longer than the other). They protrude slightly from the underside of the hinge shaft. They're not ugly, but if you're really picky about how things look, you might want to see if you can paint or anodize them into something to match your Jeep's colors.
