Comes with a sharp bevel edge which is clearly worn. However, this wear is limited by the design of the blade, which has 2 grooves along its entire length. As the edge wears, its blunting is limited by the depth of the groove. Unless you're aiming for sharp, clean, chiseled lines, there's no need to sharpen the edge. With a hammer drill behind it, this chisel is great for breaking or breaking 40 year old chunks of concrete. I used it to access the floor panel in the basement over 3" thick after drilling an outline of 1" holes around each desired hole. Using this chisel, I ripped out the web between each hole and pulled the section out. It was quick enough and using a vacuum during the process easily kept the dust at bay.
