I'm in the process of replacing cheap wire shelving that a contractor installed in our home 10 years ago with a beautiful pure white melamine that is taller , stronger and more importantly, have more shelves. With this tool you can pre-drill the melamine and create a small countersink area for both the screw and the screw cover. It's a very cool system. In terms of operation, it is quite simple. The biggest issue is setup as you have to drill 2-6 holes and then test them to make sure the depth stops at the right height. Other users have complained that the set screws are plastic, personally I have no problem with that as you have to understand that if you have a metal screw and jam it onto a thread you can damage the thread rendering the tool useless becomes. The tool comes with several replacement parts, including an extra set screw, a drill, and even some 2 1/2" and 3" screws. I didn't give the tool 5 stars for two reasons. Firstly, the box it came in contained two small tubes, both of which were open and parts were all over the box (which could have been avoided if the manufacturer had put a small piece of tape to seal the tubes). Second, at this price I'd rather ditch the free screws and instead use some sort of blown case or cheap little plastic box or EVERYTHING to store the device and its parts. When I buy a Dewalt or Makita screwdriver set, they always come in a blow molded case, so why not? Those two quibbles aside, this is a great tool and invaluable when doing melamine projects. Base rating system 3 stars = meets expectations, ie does what it is supposed to do. 1 and 2 stars = does not meet expectations, does not meet requirements. 4 and 5 stars = exceeds expectations. It has to be really cool to get 5 stars. I try to be as detailed as possible without getting too technical. There are many reviewers who just give too much information. I try to keep it simple.
