Red Heart was never my favorite yarn because it was never very soft. But for the last blanket I made, I used Red Heart because of the specific colors I chose. It was a decision I regretted. The softness of this yarn has deteriorated incredibly. I could only crochet briefly every day. If I tried to work on my project for more than 30 minutes, I would literally get friction burns on my index finger. I have been crocheting for 43 years and have never owned yarn like this. By sheer coincidence, my aunt used a different colored Red Heart yarn at the same time. As we bought more yarn we found that the darker colors seemed worse than the lighter ones. However, with all the yarn available, I no longer risk friction burns.
