Like many other reviewers, I bought this cutter to use in my alignment template. This is my first time using this type of setup and I didn't want to spend a lot of money on a router so this particular model goes with the cheapest 2" carbide tips I've found. .Overall I'm really impressed. There is no noticeable vibration and the cutting board I used as a proof of concept quickly flattened the beech grain cutting board. The depth of cut was about 1/16 inch. Router DW625 3TE; Power wasn't an issue, and it was surprisingly controllable while cutting (each pass I only cut in one direction - against the rotation of the knife, but reverse passes with the knife weren't sharp either). Stains and it smoothed them out with no problem. A few moments. The close-ups show the first few passes - I cut about 3/4 the diameter of the bit and I find that too much. You can see the tool marks pretty clearly. I don't know if the router is tilted slightly or if the back edge of the bit left a student mark, but I've had better luck cutting 1/2 the diameter or less, about 1 inch per pass. A wider view shows subsequent passages. The camera makes it worse as those marks were removed on the final touch (120 grit, then 220 with random orbit) as the finished board shows. In the cutter. Definitely worth the money for a first time level which I'm sure will get a lot of use from.
