I have a NEMA 10-30 30 amp dryer outlet in my garage that I don't use. I became aware of Splitvolt because of the built-in 24 ampere load fuse. My house is 20 years old and I didn't want to risk anything. We should not use more than 80% continuous load in any circuit. When I plugged the charger into an outlet everything looked fine, but when I plugged it into the car both fault lights were flashing indicating a power leak and the car would not charge. I emailed Splitvolt and a few hours later, around midnight, I received a reply from the CEO himself! I was impressed! He asked for more information before attempting to help me and I planned to provide it tomorrow morning. In the middle of the night it occurred to me that maybe my outlet was too old and worn out, so in the morning I went to Home Depot and bought a new outlet for six dollars. Brought home, installed and voila! The car charges great. I am very impressed with this charger and this company. Addendum: The new socket did not solve the problem. The device failed to connect on the second charge attempt so I contacted SplitVolt support and they sent me a new device and a prepaid return label. The new device has worked great on multiple charges over the past two weeks. I am a satisfied customer and can only recommend this product!
