It was recommended by astrophotographers who work outdoors and run on 12v batteries and that's what I use it for. The voltage range that the device accepts is fantastic. The screwable cable connector is easy to use and very reliable. The USB ports connect well and hold up well even with moving cables. No broken connections. Indicators easily recognize when cables are connected. The downside is that the green LEDs glow quite brightly in the dark and I had to mask them off when working with the telescope. For most users, this won't even be a problem. I plan to buy the USB3 version as soon as I get hardware that requires it.
