About auto parts out there usually nothing to say. Normally all you can say is that they either fit or they don't, and they either work or they don't. OK, this part works. It connects the power steering pump to the steering rack. It's not dripping, at least not yet. As for compliance, that's a different story. This hose fits, it is present in the car. However, it was a great pain to make it fit. First, it is extremely difficult to get to the fittings to initially remove and replace this hose. The good old Audi engineers don't seem to take service access into account when designing their cars. You have to remove a lot of completely unrelated items to access the fittings that need to be removed in order to remove that hose and reinstall the new one. Space to work is minimal and everything needs to be properly aligned and at the right angle for the hose to run properly. Well, this hose manufacturer doesn't seem to think much of it. The hose I purchased had the end of the hose that connects to the steering rack rotated about 15 degrees different than the factory hose. This made it almost impossible to turn the hose at a right angle to align the mating surface of the strut with the surface of the banjo fitting on the end of the hose. I ended up fitting the end to the rack and then found that the tubing was kinked due to the wrong angle when connecting the metal tube to the brackets. The metal part of the hose is connected to several brackets and prevents the hose from rattling and rubbing. However, not only was the end of the hose a different angle, but the end that goes to the power steering pump, the pipe was bent slightly differently, resulting in that end also not being oriented the same as the original hose, and it did as well the installation of the pump tedious. Not as bad as on the counter but still a pain. Also, the hose is now kinked as it was twisted a bit and not at the right angle. It's not usually a big deal, but it did cause the hose to kink and go below the level of the engine, being closer to the ground and prone to things the car had run over. This would have happened if the under engine cover had not been fitted. The Audi TT has a bottom cap that covers the underside of the engine, gearbox, etc. But with the cap in place, the hose is now rubbing against the cap and could potentially wear out the hole in the rubber hose over time as it bends at the wrong side bend angle. This hose is expensive enough not to treat it. The dealer hose is more expensive and although it is more expensive I would recommend this one. I would pay extra money to the dealer if I had to do it again. Hopefully it will last long enough that I don't have to change it again anytime soon.
