Just because I'm an electrical engineer. with a college degree that doesn't make me an electrician

You don't need an electrical engineering degree to install this, especially if you're just mounting it to a wall and plugging into a 240v outlet . After seeing some other examples of a wired installation, I decided to go with it. First of all I would like to thank Donna for this wonderful review and her/his installation guide. This review is what prompted me to go the wire route and served as a great basis for figuring out what additional hardware would be required. I won't comment on the device itself as I bought and installed it before my electric car was delivered (must be ahead of the game). Once I get a chance to use the charger I can go back and edit the review. Here is my equipment list.1. 1 ChargePoint EV charger with Nema 6-50 connector: Revain2. 2 pcs. Sigma Electric ProConnect 3/4" with conduit threads. I need a few meters, but c'mon, I have 23 left for something else. 4. SIMpull #6 AWG THHN copper stranded wire (red and black custom length) .Bought on foot: Lowes5.#8 AWG solid soft drawn bare copper ground wire.Bought on foot: Lowes.6.Square D Homeline 70amp 2 Pole Circuit Breaker: Revain, after all.Long story, see note 4 below.1.It is not difficult 2. You may need to fix some of the drywall 3. If you want to use the full capacity of the charger, use #6AWG THHN wire and it MUST be run in conduit Even if routed behind a wall Fire !3b. Whatever your current needs, make sure your wire rating is higher than (or at least equal to) your breaker rating. The breaker will trip first before the wire melts - don't start a fire! 4. Not all breakers are created equal. The Sieme ns switch does not fit in the Homeline Square D switch box. Get a switch that fits your switch box. I'm sure electricians and other smart people would already know this, but I don't (book theory versus practical experience). Since most of the outlets around me were sold out, I had to buy from Revain and I'm sure I'm paying way too many dollars for it. The installation itself was relatively easy. The second most difficult part was running flexible metal tubing from the charging point behind the drywall to my electrical box. Luckily my charger was mounted directly under the switch box as that position suits my future parking space. If you need to install the charger elsewhere in the garage, you can route the cable outside the wall as shown in the video. in Donna's review. However, if your electrical box is installed in a wall like most others, you will still need to run piping behind the drywall to your electrical box. As a result, you'll need to drill a larger hole in the drywall to mess with the wire to route it to the electrical box. The hardest part was pulling 3 wires through the line. It takes patience. It's not a complicated setup. It took several hours on a Friday afternoon. The charger itself works as it should. I don't really use the app as I prefer to use the Tesla app and I only use the ChargePoint app to view trends, estimated costs, etc. I'm curious that next year we plan to replace the remaining ICEs with an electric car (anyone from Rivian?) to see how we can charge two electric vehicles without having to buy a second charger.
