A Mini Life Changer

Daniel G Lebrick has a great and detailed review of this adapter and I can echo his praise. I don't want to repeat his already well said review, but I can say that the EW-7811UTC works great with Windows 7 and the TP-Link Archer C7 router. Windows didn't automatically install the drivers, but I just went to Device Manager and pointed to the included minidisk to install them. I have a small EW-7811UTC connected to an HP laptop with a legacy built-in 150Mbps single-band WiFi card. That's fine for web browsing and even gaming, but streaming DVD ISO rips from my network drive was far from stuttering - VLC hiccuped a few times when watching full-length movies. Not so with the small dynamite Edimax. I watched Despicable Me 2, The Deathly Gift 2, and Turbo non-stop. Hooray! I no longer have to boot up my computer to watch my DVD rips, so now I can watch from the comfort of my bed, not in a worn computer chair. Double cheers! All of this for less than twenty dollars compared to more than double for a Mini PCe card replacement. Triple cheers! One final note: the EW-7811UTC signal is as strong as my wmp600n with triple antennas, even in the 5GHz band. Using lanspeedtest it gives the same results as the Rosewill AC1200UBE. To be honest I love how powerful and portable this little guy is, doubly so since it's connected to a laptop. Can't vouch for XP or Win 8, but the EW-7811UTC is a win for Win7.
