No problems with my Pi3b

The 2.4 GHz band is hopelessly overloaded here. Did a little research, saw that it was recommended by the community and the installation couldn't be simpler. Pi powered off, plugged in, booted up, added 5GHz WiFi. Different ends of the apartment from wifi adapter to kitchen, bathroom and 5 walls - but I still get 200+ MB with this little beauty. Note. *Required* Make sure you have a 2.5A power supply for your Pi. A lack of power to your USB devices affects performance, at least for me. My old…

Don't let the low price fool you, this is a great product!

I was a little nervous about buying it because the price was so low compared to the competition. I'm glad I took the risk. I am using this PC with Windows 8.1 and it took me a few minutes to go to the website and download the drivers. The website was very user friendly and took a lot of the stress out of finding drivers like other big companies do. This doubled my laptop's speed to 2.4GHz (only the band my laptop supports). I got about 19-20 Mbit/s. Downstream on a 50 megabit connection via…

A Mini Life Changer

Daniel G Lebrick has a great and detailed review of this adapter and I can echo his praise. I don't want to repeat his already well said review, but I can say that the EW-7811UTC works great with Windows 7 and the TP-Link Archer C7 router. Windows didn't automatically install the drivers, but I just went to Device Manager and pointed to the included minidisk to install them. I have a small EW-7811UTC connected to an HP laptop with a legacy built-in 150Mbps single-band WiFi card. That's fine for

  • Happy so far
Cons
  • I'll write back

Works great. Keep it handy on your key chain. Edimax is an underrated brand. I've had Edimax routers and even a few USB network adapters in the past and can't say I have any complaints about that. They did a good job, but I can't say my experience with micro USB adapters is the same. Actually, I was really surprised by the performance of this little guy. I had an Edimax AC600 and to be honest I only had problems with it and never achieved anything in the area of its supposed performance…

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • No automatic

Great tiny device for the price - if it works

Edit - 11/1/2016 - Hence I downgraded the device to two stars. I recently noticed that with a continuous ping, every 9th ping takes about 1000ms, sometimes 2000ms or even 3000ms. This means that when downloading a large file, every 9 seconds the file will pause for a second and then resume. I didn't worry about this as I now have a device on my laptop that is used for surfing the web. My original desktop computer was upgraded to a Netgear power supply which doesn't experience these dips. I have

This Edimax EW-7811UTC JUST WORKS (and D-Link's DWA-171 is junk)

Linux Installation: Depending on the age and characteristics of your computer, you may need a faster wireless adapter than this that the factory gave you. I have a Lenovo G-series laptop that isn't that old but has an internal Wi-Fi adapter that runs 802.11N and offers a wireless speed of 72 Mbps. For $14.40 (as of 6/16/18) with Prime shipping, you can buy your next adapter and easily upgrade to 434Mbps. IMPORTANT NOTE. I mentioned the Edimax EW-7811UTC AC600 Dual Band USB Adapter in this post…

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • Slightly crumpled
