Review on KP Kool Products 3 Pack Super Long Universal Spout: Flexible & Versatile with a Wide Range of Accessories by Stuart Dunn

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Cheap and functional, but that's about it.

I bought these because the two new polyethylene gas cylinders I bought have spring loaded spouts with safety locks. The spouts kept falling apart (the plastic mounts in the spring-loaded mechanism deformed and wouldn't hold), so I found them. All these things are of little use. The seal tends to leak if it shifts slightly when unscrewing the spout. You won't know about it until you use one of them, at which point some fuel will drip. Unscrew the spout, adjust the seal, tighten the spout. This usually fixes the problem until you spill another drop of fuel the next time you fill the canister. The vent covers tend to pop open and sometimes fall out completely. At least they are yellow and easy to spot. The grommets serve their purpose but are quite flexible. The problem is that you usually need both hands to hold a 5 gallon gas can, so pouring without spilling becomes a creative exercise. The lids have plastic rings to keep them on the spout. Whilst this prevents them from getting lost, when unscrewing the caps the rings catch on the spout so closing the gas cylinder is a two-handed job (one hand twists the cap, the other twists the retaining ring and around). . I'm giving these things 3 stars because they fit and don't leak (that is if you put the seal in the right place). In other words, they meet minimum usability requirements. They work so well that I won't spend money replacing them, but that's saying nothing.

Pros
  • Sturdy construction
Cons
  • Minor issues
