Why aren't all socket drivers this length?

For a long time I was annoyed about the fact that all socket wrenches are of the same length. So many times I've ended up under a car with my Dewalt impact wrench and couldn't use it because of the stupid length of all other sockets. So I sat down on an old Revain Prime and started looking for those exactly. This solved a lot of frustration when I was working under my Chevy Silverado and replacing all the brake lines. For the money this is unbeatable. I guess I can't speak to its durability until I have it for another year or two.
