This item works well. I even cut up raw potatoes for her. I've found that one strong, quick press the first time is all you need. I would recommend that the manufacturer add another cutting plate with a thinner blade to allow for finer slicing of vegetables like onions and peppers. Even the smallest slicing blade cuts it into fairly large chunks, and while it says it's an onion slicer, that's not exactly what you get. If that's the case, also make that blade into something that can be purchased separately to add to the original device. I've found that cleaning up after cutting something like a zucchini takes more effort than other vegetables. Otherwise, it's a time saver and a good buy.
