I live in an apartment building for the elderly, I have many elderly neighbors who are afraid at night. I bought 6 of these great value door alarms to give to my friends. You need a 9 volt battery. The alarm volume can be adjusted from high to low. Low volume is loud enough to wake the dead. or maybe make your heart beat faster. (Just kidding - but very noisy.). It can be used effectively as a doorstop without adding a battery. My neighbors are very happy and feel much safer using it at night.
