I live in Rain Country, Southeast Alaska and regular doormats just get wet, dirty and stay that way. I removed the rugs and covered our landing with them. The deck is 2 x 6's with 1/4" spacing. Now water and debris will flow freely to the bottom and much less water, sand and debris will get into the house. They are much cheaper than comparable products. at our marine store for each $6 available but appears to be of comparable quality. I then screwed in the screws with tabs and stainless steel sheet metal screws.
