Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Efficient and Reliable: Dayco 89241 Automatic Belt Tensioner by Kristopher Rodriguez

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Installed on a 2002 Grand Am 3.4

The pulley assembly appears to be of good quality and only time will tell how it will hold up to everyday use. This was a replacement for my wife's 2002 Grand Am v6 that had the pulley finally failing after 100km. Unless you have a special tool to remove the flimsy tensioner I had to use a little trick as installing the pulley is a bit tricky is deeper . I used a 3/8 socket wrench to release the tension and I had to install a new one with the wrench attached as I could only thread it on and off the pulley when it was installed with the belt and not with it loose tension because the distance to the fire wall is too small. A bit tricky but doable and that's the only reason I took off a star.

Pros
  • V-Belt
Cons
  • Security
