Works with sheet metal and other thin materials but the cutting teeth are really optimized for metal. You cut wood slowly as the design doesn't allow you to clear the shavings. Very soft and crumbly materials like plasterboard are probably not a problem. My test cuts in plywood (see photo) usually pushed 1/4 inch thick shims out of the bit, but anything thicker stuck and had to be pushed out with a screwdriver or other hard tool.
