Review on UCTRONICS PoE Splitter USB-C 5V - Active PoE to USB-C Adapter: For Raspberry Pi 4, Google WiFi, Security Cameras, and More by Tone Hatton

Scottish alternative RPi PoE HAT

I really wanted to convince myself to spend the money on a PoE HAT for my Pi 4+ but when I saw this product my inner Jock said I should give it a try. If I end up buying 5 or 6 RPi, that would mean a significant saving. In terms of power quality, this module was able to deliver stable power using standard Cat5E cable with PoE NetGear JGS-516PE. switch to him. The network connection is stable and I was able to test speeds of up to 45 MB/s. I haven't pushed this further as I haven't set up and configured my NAS yet, but I expect to report back some throughput and stability numbers from my 1Gb/s data rate tests over the next few weeks. If all goes well, this device shouldn't slow down transfers up to 120MB/sec.

Pros
  • What it is - UCTRONICS PoE splitter to split PoE signal to 5V USB-C power and Gigabit Ethernet into RJ45, allowing non-PoE devices to be powered over Ethernet.
Cons
  • Exorbitant Price
