Review on πŸ”₯ WTB Riddler 45 x 700 TCS Light/Fast Rolling Dual DNA SG2 Tire - Black: High Performance and Durable Design for Optimal Performance by Peter Zouhair

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Good front end for dry single trails

Installed a tube on the front of my Sirrus X to improve cornering on dry, twisty singletrack. Measured 45.3mm at maximum pressure per square inch when I first installed the bead. Run it at 30psi. Easy assembly without leverage. Fairly quiet on pavement but feels a little slower than my Maxxis Rambler or Specialized Pathfinder. The front end seems to want to wash out in fast tarmac corners and moderate mud, but very good bite and predictable slide on dry hard pavement and loose on hard. I ride in the Denver area, where the trails are soft and rock-free but the competition among mountain bikers is fierce. Many national pros train and race on single track and fast dual track where I have tested this tire. My first run in light dirt (slow conditions) was lackluster, but I had a few personal bests on climbs, so I think it rolls ok. On day one, dry-running the same trails, I led almost every section of singletrack without ever feeling like I was pushing the limits of tire grip on corners. I got a KOM on a paved sprint around the pond and another on a short uphill sprint with a crucial corner at the bottom. My overall time from flat to downhill singletrack was in the top 3% to the top 10% of several thousand riders on Strava. Not bad for a 190-pound-50 motocrosser. The Riddler 45c is a winner in MTB handling with minimal loss of rolling resistance.
