I really like this set and I am 99% satisfied with it. All the parts work well together avoiding the more complicated setup for cold brew coffee. I highly recommend it to make cold coffee or similar purposes. I use a funnel/filter to decant and filter coarse, cold brew coffee. This setup for my application does a very good job of filtering coffee, although I'll add a final step to filter the results of that filtering through a 300 mesh cloth (400 mesh could be even better). For my coffee brewing, I simply fill a 64-ounce glass with the measured amount of water I like for the measured amount of coarse, very coarse ground coffee I use (just pour coffee into water, shake and steep). I left it on the counter for about 12 hours. I then use the Pour and Store lid on a 64 ounce mason jar to transfer those coffee grounds into another 64 ounce mason jar to which I have attached a Chef's Planet #130 Multi-Purpose Filter Funnel (except for the red funnel , which it is not necessary) for my coffee preparation). Application). The large gray funnel screws onto my 64 ounce receiving glass very securely. I then place the included bronze colored strainer (similar to the metal strainers used in drip coffee makers) into this gray screw-on funnel, and then I place a white strainer (with much larger holes than the bronze colored strainer) in the bronze colored strainer. . All of the pieces in the set have tabs that interlock freely so they don't move when I pour in cold coffee grounds to filter. In this way, very large coffee grounds are caught by the white colony and smaller coffee grounds by the bronze colored strainer. I then rinse out the original 64-ounce mason jar and filter set. I screw a large gray funnel onto a freshly rinsed 64 oz Mason jar and place a 300/400 mesh bag filter in the funnel. I then use the Pour and Store lid on the 64-ounce Mason jar that now contains the first round of filtered coffee and pour the liquid from that jar through a 300/400 mesh cloth filter to remove superfine particles . This eliminates virtually all sediment, although some may still settle to the bottom during a few days of stagnation (you can use a 600 or 800 mesh filter, but there really is no sediment). Finally, the red nozzle fits the gray funnel very securely and works well for filling small mouth vessels without leaking from the use I put it to. I just don't need it for the cold brew steps. The minor issues I found with the set when it arrived are two: First, the ND filter has a couple of machine-cut slots where it screws onto the mason jar. I believe this is to release air when the funnel is screwed onto the glass. I suspect that without the slots this would create suction and make it very difficult to unscrew the two pieces from each other (just my guess). My problem is that one of the two cuts on my device is very rough and I had to cut some plastic pieces out of the cut. I think this is because this cut goes through one of the corner threads of the cover and the other cut goes over all threads. I've considered swapping, but I suspect all sets could be like this since all cuts are likely to be in the same place on all funnels. I just cleaned it up a bit with an exacto knife. IMPORTANT NOTE: None of these "air" holes will leak when the filter is installed as they are located at the very top of the steps used to screw the funnel to the can and the funnel threads on the can very much are firm and secure. , there is a metallic bluish spot (eraser head size #2) on the bronze filter mesh in my kit, as if the bronzing missed the spot due to contamination on the screen surface. My concern is that unless it's the bronze part of the screen, it won't rust in the future. So far I haven't noticed any rust or wear in this area and I've washed the screen several times (although the stain is still there after washing). Combined with the above slot cut issue I was considering a replacement but I expect and hope these issues really won't be a problem in the long run. So the two issues in my particular set were minor and not worth making the swap (at least for now).
