I rushed to buy this machine after failing to learn how to flatlock my overlock machine and suddenly decided "I NEED A COVERSTITCH MACHINE NOW”. I haven't researched other brands and haven't read many reviews other than people saying they have trouble releasing fabric from this one. So here is my review after almost a full year of using the machine. The price of $299 (was on sale) seemed the cheapest on the market to me. I briefly reviewed other machines, but I wasn't willing to spend more than $300 on a machine I wasn't sure about if it would be used regularly in my sewing workshop. If I had to do it again I would wait and buy a more expensive machine with a "Prestige" brand - not because I care about the name of my machines, but because I upgraded my sewing machine last year and saw the difference in performance between an entry-level machine and mid-range car. In the case of a deck stitching machine, I would recommend buying from a dealer, seeing as many machines in action as possible, and then choosing the one that is best suited for what you want to do. Overall this machine is functional and I haven't had any major issues with it that some reviewers describe. and plate and who wants to do that back and forth often? I have my sergers and sergers side by side at my work station and am constantly going back and forth from one to the other and swapping parts to convert into one another would take too much time or require a lot of pre-planning (none of my business). It's easy to cut. I mean the process is clear and doable - the instructions explain everything correctly, threading needles is never "easy". Right out of the box I was able to get the double and triple coverstitch functions working. I couldn't get the machine to chain stitch with a needle and gave up. I would like to do that, but haven't found the time. I have no problem getting my work out of the car when I'm done. It's just a synchronized two-handed process. First, pull the loose threads of the needle toward the front of the machine to form a loop while holding the tension release on each needle with a separate finger. Then cut the workpiece and pull it to the back of the machine. I didn't encounter the terrible problem that other reviewers mention. The tension settings feel Finnish. What works on a given fabric one day may not work on the same fabric a week later. Maybe the addition of dust during this time or a change in air pressure? Who knows? But I have found that I have to adjust the tension on the machine every day. I have used the machine successfully on knitted and woven fabrics. It is prone to disc-shaped fabric pile that is too thick and can snag. This is hard to get out of the machine, but releasing the gripper with the release button inside the machine will help. The machine seems a little noisy and a little "rough". All in all, it does what it was made for. and if you just want it for hemming and sometimes topstitching, this machine will work. But if you use the machine for most of your projects and have the time to save or the funds for a more advanced machine, I'd say it's worth it. but if you loosen the gripper with the release button in the machine it will help.
