We have just moved into a new old house and have done some renovations. One evening after a violent storm, a puddle of water formed under the window. The outer caulk around the window seemed to help, but then I noticed that the inner trim around the window was "swollen". A colleague at work suggested I buy a moisture meter and take a look. I have made. I found that the drywall under the window was about 23%: this was evidenced by the sagging of the paper on the drywall. After a few minutes of calibration and test measurements in different parts of the house, we now know the full extent of water damage and can mitigate it before it becomes too expensive.
