Yes we bought it for a quick temperature check due to COVID and yes it is suitable for that purpose. It's simple and easy to use, although toggling between the different possible modes (C, F, etc.) can get a bit tiresome. We mostly leave it in body temperature/Fahrenheit mode, so it's not a big deal. Battery life was good, reliability i.e. constantly taking readings is good as long as the person remembers being within half an inch of the forehead. The instructions say the readings will be slightly lower, and we've found that to be the case. I don't know if the same applies to other non-contact thermometers. For guidance, we've made some comparisons with oral digital and mercury thermometers. The mercury and oral digital thermometers always matched within 0.1 degrees, and the non-contact thermometer showed 1 degree less, fairly consistently. However, because it's quick, easy, and doesn't require the same level of sterilization as oral thermometers, we find it useful. After the purchase, the manufacturer contacted us and supplied a replacement thermometer. This is impressive and shows a strong commitment to customer satisfaction, which is why I've raised my rating in response.
