Reuse with OAK main board, pine chew blocks. My birds love it

I found I was working with them too quickly so I replaced the main board with a wooden board. My dread has a hard time chewing through oak, but if you have a large macaw you might want to consider a solid steel plate or aluminum square! You can get them at your local mechanics store. Then simply reuse chains with self-made chewing blocks. Buy a bell to attach to the bottom of the chains to get her attention. This will help thread the quick connector through the bottom of the chains to prevent the chains from winding up to the bottom of the cage when your bird chews on the logs. At this point I started making my own interchangeable blocks out of 2x4s. I simply drilled a hole in the center and cut blocks, placed them in a bowl of food coloring overnight to color them, and bought round beads to sandwich in between. She. For the 6" x 6" top block, I use oak, which my gray can't gnaw through, and paint it red, just like the standard pine element (you may need to use a solid metal top block if you have hyacinth or some other giant strong bird!). Good design. In short, it's great for my Gray African. My Pionus parrot thinks the blocks are too big and won't play with them.

Pros
  • Quality construction
Cons
  • Big and bulky
