If you're spending a lot of money on a Subaru I think it should come with a front license plate bracket. Instead, it comes with a few dimples. Shirley Temple may have been dimpled cute, and cars do not require front license plates in all states (Florida and Arizona are some exceptions), but license plate brackets should be provided for those states that require front license plates. . Instead, most dealers simply drill a pilot hole in the two cutouts and screw the plate into those holes. I assure you - it is not safe! This license plate bracket kit is reliable and easy to install. You still use the dimples to drill pilot holes, but then drill holes up to 3/8 inch. Then you put the nuts in (rubber inserts with a nut on the end so they snap when tightened. The nuts come with all the screws you need (and a few screws you don't need, it seems). Good: very durable. The attachment method should be fairly permanent. The back plate is powder-coated stainless steel, so it won't bend easily and certainly won't rust. The plate mounting screws are also made of stainless steel. These number plate mounting screws should thread into typical nylon clip number plate holders (also included) so they stay in place but can be easily removed if you need to change number plates. They aren't as strong and probably don't have stainless steel hardware. With this set the head isn't very large and they can slip right through clearance holes on license plates and ship here in Colorado (and possibly other states). On occasion, I'll use a few pucks to fix this particular anomaly.
