I bought a 9" Yost vise to fit a front vise to a small joinery machine. The bench isn't that heavy, so I needed something that would complement the structure without having to design a lot of support structure. These vise vises fit snugly and fit between the bench dog holes for a tidy setup. I wanted a medium duty vise with a strong construction that would resist twisting quite well, but I didn't want to pay for a "premium" vise. Yost has been around for a long time, so I was familiar with the older products. It took about 2 hours to install on the bench, which took me a while. I bought a 7/8" dowel handle at a local woodworking shop and made the front from a 2x6 blank to complete the installation. It works the way I need it. I think it's really good value for money in this price range. I would recommend it to others.
