I had the same sanding block as the one I bought. It was hard plastic, easy-to-replace sandpaper, the replaceable sandpaper was front-to-back (lengthwise) vs. the side, and the underside was hard plastic, not the "rigid foam" finish I bought. I prefer the sandpaper to be round front to back rather than side to side. Sometimes the front or back of the sandpaper would catch on a small piece of wood and tear easily. You'll probably need to get used to the sand or retrain. I couldn't find another sanding block. I wish the manufacturer had changed the design of the block so that the sandpaper runs front to back.
