I had trouble getting the prongs of this lamp holder to actually go into the bulb. I managed to push the tines in about 1/2 inch, but it wasn't enough to hold the onion for slicing. The teeth are very sharp, so that's not a problem. Perhaps the teeth are too close together, making it difficult to work. to put it in a loop? But I've used it to hold small potatoes for peeling with great success. The teeth easily pierced raw potatoes and allowed me to keep the potatoes and fingers a safe distance from the knife. So not the best tool for hard veggies, but works great with softer things like lemons, tomatoes, potatoes, etc.
