These were a great way for beginners to start with EL (electroluminescent) wires. EL wires glow with cool mysterious colors, and they can be bent into interesting shapes. The wire is nice and bright, and easy to bend and work without damage. Just turn them on and you can get solid light or a variety of blinking patterns. My friends and I went on a Joshua Tree night photo trip and was able to enjoy these lights for long exposure shots. We had tons of fun learning about long exposure shots like writing names or some special effects.
