The official product photo was incorrect when I wrote this review, although the description is correct. You can check the product number on the HB or Thomas Scientific website to know exactly which model you are getting. It's -5 to 50 degrees Celsius, fully submersible, 160mm long and comes in a "Duplex" aluminum case. Duplex means that the thermometer itself is encased in an open-faced inner aluminum armor, which offers a moderate level of protection, and is housed in a closed aluminum tube, which offers a high level of protection. However, if you drop it, it's quite possible that it will break inside. You can also remove the thermometer from the inner armor and use it without protection for faster response times. It has turquoise liquid over white. It would be nice if it was marked in both Celsius and Fahrenheit, but most glass laboratory thermometers don't have this marking. I don't like the cluttered labeling of half degree increments and the fact that 15, 25, 35, and 45 degree increments are simply labeled "5". Like most other Thomas/HB liquid thermometers, it comes from Amazon. in plastic factory packaging without additional protection such as bubble wrap. Mine arrived undamaged but with a blister in the liquid column, usually after a bumpy ride. I managed to remove the blister very carefully. Great little robust and accurate thermometer for experiments, environmental studies and expeditions.
