I recently bought a lovely Karastan wool rug to put on the living room rug. I used to lay rugs on top of rugs and used different types of underlays, sometimes no underlays at all. It was the nicest rug I have ever bought so I could justify paying a little more for the rug. After a lot of research and reading, I decided to try this mat. I wasn't overly optimistic as all the previous pads I've bought have fallen short of my expectations and I felt like I wasted my money. Today I absolutely do NOT understand where these seals are. I'm sure they went in the trash a long time ago. First I was impressed by the fast delivery. From the moment I received the shipping confirmation, it was at my doorstep within 12 hours! Much, much faster than I expected. It arrived in a heavy plastic bag that was in perfect condition. I unrolled it and laid my rug down. SLIGHTLY easier said than done. To use it properly, place the rubber side on the carpet. The rubber holds the mat so well that positioning it accurately is a bit difficult. I made it on my own It would be easier together, but a little warm-up didn't stop me! It didn't smell at all. The pillow is also a bit missing. No fibers fly apart. Unlike some of the previous reviewers, my pad was slightly larger than the 8'x10' I ordered. It has just been cut. I had to trim it to fit under the rug. I recommend good heavy duty scissors for this task. Even when cutting, the cushion did not tear or crumble. I cut it slightly smaller than the rug so it lays flat on the edges so we don't get our toes or the vacuum snagging on it. This prevents trips and falls as well as corner wrapping. Once in place, I'm impressed with the feel underfoot. The cushion adds a nice depth and slight softness underfoot. It's not "soft" but quite hard with little articulation. The cushion adds a little luxury to an already good rug. Now is the crucial moment. In addition to all the great things I mentioned above, what I love most about it is that even though I've had the rug and pillow in place for about a month and had absolutely no furniture on it, the rug doesn't move an iota Has! I've vacuumed it many times and there isn't the slightest movement on the carpet. No small wrinkles. He stayed where he was. I will not make the mistake of wasting money on another cheap rug. Eventually buy 2 of these (and curse them and throw them away) and you still have nothing. Pay twice the first time and save yourself a lot of frustration in the long run.
