True, I don't drill hard on my lathe. I'll use my own drill press for this, of course, but sometimes it's easier to do light to moderate turns with a (usually) forstner bit while the wood is still on the lathe. Or I also drill pilot holes in it before it goes into the press for larger drill bits. Somehow when I go from the lathe to the press if I don't drill a pilot hole while still on the lathe I seem to be slightly off center on the press. I'm going crazy so having the pilot hole already in the center helps. .I don't push it mainly because my lathe is a medium sized lathe and I could stop the motor with a Forstner bit if I tried to push it. I see them failing for some people and if I ever did I would update this review but it works like a patron at this time. He seems to have enough strength and physique to do what I do. If you have drilled or drilled anything more than mediocre I would go with a press as it is built for that. Simple light drilling and drilling is fine.
