Post Motor Filter *does not* fit Bissell Lift Off Model 2043w, contrary to product advertisement. The photos show that the original PM filter does not have a ridge at the top or bottom, as well as various side latches when the filter is placed back in the vacuum cleaner in the correct position. The included filter is ribbed at the top and bottom, preventing the filter from sitting flush with the unit, allowing you to replace the top filter / engine cover front surface and put the bin back in place. The new filter also has a different side mechanism design compared to the original, which contributes to the fact that it doesn't sit far enough in the unit and doesn't allow you to properly latch the engine cover. The other two filters proved suitable, although I haven't yet been able to verify whether they work properly or not. All in all, save yourself some stress and spend your extra money at Bissell.com on genuine parts, even if they make finding the right parts as difficult as possible.
