Review on πŸš€ Carter P5001 Inline Electric Fuel Pump: Boost your engine's performance by Zack Frazier

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Carter almost got it right.

Bought specifically for 4.2L Jeep CJ with Howell TBI due to fuel pressure. As others have said, is that sucker LOUD! Too loud. You'll hear it screeching all the time. It comes with matching odd size/pitch fittings that were very difficult (nearly impossible) to pick up simple barbed fittings. On the high pressure side there was a fitting that Hundreds of psi fits although this thing is only rated for 20psi The electrical connections are too high tech for the application A set of racks and nuts would have been much better If the fuel pump is in the back of the car and the power is from the front why Does the electrical connector then face backwards? This means that the power cord has to make a sharp bend/bend to connect to the rear connector.Otherwise it looks like a beefy crank housing pump. I have bought many Carter pumps and their functionality and design have always been excellent. This? Carter-style function. Draft? It's terrible. I hate to say it, but I'll buy a similar Walbro pump. You will be happier.

Pros
  • 3/8" NPT inlet and 5/8 outlet inverted to 3/8 hard line fitting
Cons
  • old
