Lady not very long

The pump was only dead for a year this weekend. You would think that a pump in this price range would last more than a year and 2 months.

Pros
  • Absolute legend
Cons
  • I'll write later

Carter has been a very good brand for many years.

The fuel pump was damaged when I received it in the electrical connector but I wanted it to work when I received it so I secured the connector with zip ties.

Pros
  • Great for a small house
Cons
  • Mostly good but...

Great pump for the price!

This Carter pump replaced a badly clogged and damaged Airtex in my 1986 Jaguar. I had to buy a 5/8" hose barb to connect to the plumbing in my car, but that's only because the plumbing isn't factory. The pump was installed very quickly with pluggable wiring and smooth brass fittings. The pump is very compact for its performance, but feels very solid and gives the impression of quality construction. While a little less noisy than the dying Airtex, it's still a little rougher than I usually like.

Pros
  • Inspires confidence
Cons
  • Not bad, but...

Right part for the job

We underestimated our fuel pump needs and when this Carter P5001 arrived we installed it with crossed thumbs. It worked beautifully; This replaced engine has never worked so well and I'm not kidding. A serious fuel pump for a serious build.

Pros
  • 12 volt
Cons
  • Defects

Ideal pump for TBI engine.

Carter definitely makes the most reliable pumps. This model is ideal for builds with TBI engines. I run it on my rock buggy with a small Chevy block and a TBI rebuild. It offers excellent performance from every angle and appears immune to water, dust, mud and bumps in the trail. And unlike cheaper pumps, it's self-priming.

Pros
  • Universal Fit Carter Fuel Systems rotary vane pumps are internally adjustable, free-flow designs with no burn-through points or leaking shaft seals.
Cons
  • Protection

Carter almost got it right.

Bought specifically for 4.2L Jeep CJ with Howell TBI due to fuel pressure. As others have said, is that sucker LOUD! Too loud. You'll hear it screeching all the time. It comes with matching odd size/pitch fittings that were very difficult (nearly impossible) to pick up simple barbed fittings. On the high pressure side there was a fitting that Hundreds of psi fits although this thing is only rated for 20psi The electrical connections are too high tech for the application A set of racks and nutsโ€ฆ

Pros
  • 3/8" NPT inlet and 5/8 outlet inverted to 3/8 hard line fitting
Cons
  • old
