THESE FILTERS BRING DUST INTO THE ENGINE! They are designed to protect the engine from dust; However, when I first emptied my B&D handheld vacuum after installing this filter and only lightly vacuuming, I suddenly noticed dust around the motor vents that I had never seen after years of using this vacuum. There was a filter, I put the old filter back in place and vacuumed it pretty dirty, got very dusty, then inspected the engine bay again while draining. The engine compartment was NO FRIDAY - not a speck of dust - and that was after vacuuming a very old filter that I had used and washed many times. I'm glad I noticed before those filters ruined a perfectly good vacuum. BEWARE!
