We originally used an Aqueon cleaner that attaches to your sink, but since we didn't have a sink close enough to our 75 gallon tanks when we moved, we had to revert to manual modifications. It seemed like a good buy as you didn't have to suck at the end of a dirty tube to get it working. So far it has worked like a charm! It even gets MORE suction power than the one attached to our sink! In the reviews that say they had trouble with the direction of the bulb, the bulb CLEARLY shows which side goes where. Obviously this will not work both ways. It just doesn't make sense! It only works in one direction to force the water to move in one direction through the pipe. We use it to clean cichlid sand (it's a medium sized sand) and it definitely gets the job done removing "debris" from rocks without picking up too much. Once you learn how to use it, it won't be a problem anymore! Glad we found this and it made manual water changes MUCH easier for such a large tank!
