Great gravel vacuum with the same problem as everyone else.

The only reason I'm giving this vacuum cleaner four stars instead of five is because I'd like to find a vacuum cleaner with a less stiff hose. The suction and collection is great, but I get frustrated when I'm done and the end of the hose comes off the bucket. Water usually gets poured over me as I try to stop it from flying across the room. However, I don't know of any substrate cleaner with this suction power that does not use this type of hose.

Pros
  • Done
Cons
  • Ugly packaging

Ideal for manual water changes

We originally used an Aqueon cleaner that attaches to your sink, but since we didn't have a sink close enough to our 75 gallon tanks when we moved, we had to revert to manual modifications. It seemed like a good buy as you didn't have to suck at the end of a dirty tube to get it working. So far it has worked like a charm! It even gets MORE suction power than the one attached to our sink! In the reviews that say they had trouble with the direction of the bulb, the bulb CLEARLY shows which side…

from 15 to 55 liters? Honestly?

Don't get me wrong, this item works great, but a pump that claims to work on a 15 gallon tank is just plain stupid. I can't imagine being able to handle a pipe, hose and bucket while sucking on a tiny 15 gallon tank. I used this on my 30 gallon tank that sits on a stand and the hose was still too long. I ended up trimming the length by about a foot and that seems to have made it more manageable. I can cut another six inches, but I'll try a few more water changes to make sure I don't cut too…

Best Aquarium Vacuum Cleaner!

I needed something that would remove most of the water during water changes while removing dirt from the bottom of a 55 gallon tank with no gravel. This is amazing stuff! I was concerned about this at first because most gravel vacuums only work with tanks that have some type of substrate, but I took a chance and I'm glad I did. Worth every penny if you think it's going to save your back: I attached a longer hose I bought from a hardware store and the water and dirt just flies out the window. No

View it over the Sink Version

I went to Home Depot and bought two trash cans (to build an igloo with the kids - enough snow for Pita, but not enough to build an igloo to build ) so buckets sit. My daughter wanted an aquarium for her birthday and we got 36 gallons. one. I have two 3500 gallon koi ponds that I have gradually learned to care for, but the tank was new. It works great with garage buckets. (I screwed it up and the arrow on the bulb wasn't going in the right direction - doh - quick fix) I put down a layer (?) of…

Pros
  • A dream come true
Cons
  • Not as thick as other picks

It's a big siphon. I stuck the sucking end into my little fish pond/bath, took the other long end and placed it behind the window above (so the goop came OUTSIDE) however I rocked and rocked this thing with both hands and I couldn't get it to come and water went sticky and fish pooped everywhere some came out others started swimming all over my fish water and the connectors also dripped nasty water on me my hands were sore from pumping this thing and I ended up with it to throw it outside and…

Pros
  • High scores for support and durability from testers
Cons
  • Not happy with everything
