This is a handy product for making a desired size pilot hole with an interchangeable adjustable length drill bit so that different length screws can be used instead of the all the way through your project. A multi-fluted steel countersink will cut clean holes large enough for you to cover the screw head with a wood plug if necessary (some pilot tools/counter drill bits are underdiameter for this). I've never had a problem with the countersink becoming too dull to use. The driver bit must also be replaced. The first thing I do with the #6 is replace the bit with a Dewalt drywall bit as it will seat the screws better while staying in the slots in the screw head. The only downside to this tool is the fact that most of the tool body is aluminum and the holes for the setscrews will wear and loosen over time, especially if you use it to drive hardwood a lot (it will turn a lot of screws beforehand) . before they become unusable). That's why I only give it four stars out of five. If DeWalt had made a steel body I would never have had to buy a replacement and this tool would be the best tool of its kind - period! I have two of these screwdrivers, one configured for #6 screws and one configured for #8 screws because I often use both, it saves time changing bits and bits on the same tool.
