I had a basic very basic pyrography pen that I was trying to use to sculpt or repair 3D prints and models made with a 3D pen but as it didn't have a temperature setting , it got too hot and left brown spots on the PLA, so I went with this one. So far this has worked very well to form thin 3D printed pieces that break off when supports are removed. Apply some filament with a 3D pen, then shape with a pyrography pen - worked well. But please NOT without a ventilator, as the lungs will hurt for days! I also made this little organizer which you can check out on Thingiverse - find an organizer with pyrography tips. The reading on the display should be between 28 and 32 - this is enough to work with PLA. I have the 2 pen option and this is very useful when I need to switch between 2 different nibs as it saves time. To replace the nib, allow the pen to cool, then loosen the two screws, replace the nib, and reinsert the two screws. The tips heat up very quickly given the low temperatures I worked at to cool them down and I was able to remove excess yarn from the tip with my bare fingers if needed.
